My Approach:
Direct and Compassionate - I believe these are the two greatest traits I can bring into my work with others. While working with clients I strive to provide honest feedback that will help guide them forward towards recovery while offering compassion along the journey. I believe that the best route to change is a direct one that does not beat around the bush. The road to RECOVERY of any form can be very difficult as life may be in a state of turmoil. Offering a compassionate approach that fits an individual's needs is the best route to take.
In my work as a counselor and my own life I have found that CONNECTION is of incredible importance. Inability or unwillingness to feel and express uncomfortable emotions can keep people disconnected. Through the process of recovery, lifestyle changes, and personal growth many people experience fear, anger, sadness, and any other emotions. This process is normal and while it may be unnerving, it is important to have a safe place to work through it all.
Change can be a very turbulent time. As mentioned above there are a lot of emotions to handle. Throughout the process a main focus will be the exploration of underlying beliefs and patterns. There are thousands of people who enter treatment programs every year looking for help. After a while they find themselves right back where they started. One of my main focuses is to help individuals DISCOVER the underlying beliefs and patterns that lead to the feelings that trigger substance abuse. Without this deeper exploration the path to recovery can take longer with many failed attempts.
When it comes to helping others find their way and make changes I am passionate, fearless, and caring. I have had many "tough" people walk into my office over the years and my approach allowed me to help them CONNECT, DISCOVER and RECOVER.
